2023 winner Bloom Biorenewables
Bloom Biorenewables aims to make biomass a real alternative to oil. Its technology enables the potential of plant by-products such as straw or wood to be exploited in a particularly effective way to manufacture a whole range of products, including perfumes, plastics and textiles.
2023 finalist MobyFly
MobyFly supplies fast, zero-emission hydrofoil boats whose environmental footprint per passenger is smaller than that of a 45km/h electric bicycle. Powered by renewable energy sources (batteries or hydrogen), the boats must be able to carry up to 350 passengers and fly over the waves at 70 km/h, consuming up to 70% less energy than traditional ferries.
2023 finalist OPTIML
OPTIML, a spin-off from the EPFZ, has designed a software programme that aims to facilitate the renovation and energy systems of properties on a case-by-case basis. If a customer wants to renovate their property but doesn't know how to go about it, they can contact OPTIML, which will extract data relating to their building and submit it to its artificial intelligence.
